My Wife (Poem) by Derrick D Pringle Sr

My wife, everyday I awake I feel good to be alive, knowing you are by my side. There are not words to explain why our love will always remain, through the ups the downs and the good and bad, through the times of joy and the times we are sad. My grace, my peace, my joy, my breath, my life is with you till I have none left. You’re the pressure that beats my heart and nothing created could keep us apart. You are my light when it’s dark and my sun when it rains; you are my smile when I frown and my joy when there’s pain. I thank god for all I’ve been through, because he was preparing me just for you. I’m built and created to flourish our life, I’m grateful in every way that you’re my wife.  Written by Derrick D Pringle Sr

Reasons for Marriage: Marriage is sacred

While marriage is declining, single person/parent homes and living together is increasing. We all have our own thoughts and opinions on this. My personal view is that marriage is a sacred institution which needs to be upheld. Yet negativity is often attached to it, whether that comes through the media or the nightly sitcoms. Marriage is not the norm anymore. In fact, my children are considered to be an odd breed, coming from a home with their biological father and mother married...and for 20 years at that. I think it's really sad. Although marriage has its challenges, it has so many benefits...not only to the couple but to the children as well. Other studies have shown that people live longer when they are married. Children tend to do better in school and society as a whole. There is a sense of security when parents are married. What I hope my husband and I have taught our children is that marriage is worth it. No it's not perfect (as they have clearly seen). It has its ups and downs. But when you weather the storm, you are always glad you did. You come out of it a stronger person. I like to believe that there is nothing I couldn't handle, just for the sheer fact I have made it 20 years in marriage. Marriage teaches you so much, not only about the other person but about yourself. It is a great opportunity to become selfless and giving, to learn how to put someone else's needs before your own. Not a popular thing embraced by many but a good character builder. What do you think about the decline of marriages? ave you heard that marriage is on the decline? Not in the sense that they are ending in divorce (although, that is obviously still an issue) but that less people in America are embracing holy matrimony? Back in 1960, the percentage of adults married was at 72%. Currently it's at 51% and according to new research, with the trend continuing this way, in just a few years it will fall below 50%.
